111,889. Fairweather, W., (Singer Manufacturing Co.). Dec. 11, 1916. Multiple - seam sewing - machines; lock-stitching by hooks. -In multiple-seam sewing-machines having triangularly arranged loop-takers, provision is made for permitting the looptakers to co-operate with the needles whether arranged in line or in triangular relationship for producing seams of like or unlike lead. The invention is applied to a machine of the type described in Specification 14530/15. The loop-takers 18, 19, 20, Fig. 2, are carried by frames 23, 23', and are driven by worm gearing from a shaft 8. To meet the requirements of changes in the configuration of the needles, 5, 6, 7, Fig. 6, from the straight line to the triangular arrangement as indicated diagrammatically in Fig. 6, the frames 23' are adjustable laterally by means of the screw and slot 251. substitute throat plates being provided. The bobbin-case-actuating finger 34, Fig. 5, is formed on a lever 26 embracing an eccentric 27 on the loop-taker shaft and provided with a forked opening 33 which is tracked by the head 32 of a pivot pin 31. To change the timing in accordance with the positions of the needles the pin 31 is adapted to be inserted in one or other of the holes 30, 42 of an adjustable plate 21, fine adjustment being provided by the screw and slot 24. The throat plate is formed, as shown in Fig. 4, with arms 50, 51 in which is slidably mounted the plate 53 with notches 54 forming extensions of the feed slots 55, and is provided with the usual pairs of lugs 40 for maintaining the bobbin-case stationary.
