Steering and balancing. -Two oppositely-moving control cables may be locked together, or a control cable may be locked to the frame of an aeroplane or the like, to hold the control surfaces in the neutral or central position, by the engagement of an apertured plate 5 secured on one cable with one or more studs 9 carried by a plate 5 secured to the other cable, or mounted in a bracket 13 secured to a strut or the like 10. The engagement is secured by a withdrawable pin 11, and the plate 5 may be secured to the cables 6 so that the studs and apertured plates are disengaged by the torsion of the cables when the pin 11 is withdrawn. The stud 9 may be freely mounted in the bracket 13 so that it may move some distance into a recess 14 in the strut 10.
