Phase, changing.-A single-phase load such as a furnace C is supplied from a two-phase transformer by connecting the load to the opposite ends P1, P2 of the two transformer secondaries, and connecting the other ends of the windings either directly or at intermediate points M1, M2. When the main supply is three-phase, the abovementioned windings may be the secondaries of a Scott-connected transformer, as shown.
