Portable-track wheels. - Relates to portable tracks for vehicles, tractors, and the like of the kind having shoes pivotallv connected to members which are radially slidable in a frame journaled on the axle and are interconnected by double-armed levers acting on each adjacent pair of the radiaily movable members. The invention consists in forming the levers h of T-shape and positioning the pivots b1 in the stem portions, and also in mounting the pivots on members a10 which are radially movable as on guide-rods against the action of springs m. The shoe-carriers c4 are guided in suitable radial apertures in the frame a by guides-rods c. The parts are returned by springs i, i1. The carriers c' are provided with shoulders having a concave upper face for engagement with the convex surfaces of the levers h. In modifications, the levers may work in slots in the carriers and may be provided with rollers. The shoes g are pivotally and slidably connected to their carriers so as to have relative tilting movements parallel to and at right-angles and sliding movements parallel to the plane of the frame a. The shoes may be arranged in breakjoint order as shown at g10, Fig. 11, and may be connected together and to radially movable carriers by pin-and-slot connexions as shown in Fig. 15. The guide-slots in the frame for the radially movable carriers may be of a size to allow relative movement in the plane of the frame between the carriers and the shoes. The shoes g11, Fig. 13, may be provided with stop pins u which maintain the shoes at a predetermined angle to the surface of the ground when required.
