147,126. Krupp Akt.-Ges., F. Nov. 27, 1916, [Convention date]. Mountings.-Relates to electric long-distance control of the valve-gear of hydraulic gunlaying apparatus, and consists in providing in combination (1) an Hydraulic valve E which is opened to impart movement to the gun by operating an electric receiving-motor G from a distant transmitter H, and closed, when the gun has moved through the prescribed angle, by gearing connecting it with the gun barrel A, and (2) cut-off valves Band C in the pressure pipes, the opening and closing of these valves being effected in accordance with the mutual angular positions of the receiver G and gun A. The invention is shown applied to elevating-gear although it may be applied to training-gear. The elevating-gear comprises an hydraulic piston and cylinder device a2, A3 fed by pressure pipes a4, a5 leading by way of the cut-off valves B, C to a controlling piston-valve E moving in a valve-box having a pressure pipe e1 and exhaust pipe e2. The valve E is connected through a rack e7 to a sector-lever f19 moving in a box F shown in detail in Fig. 2. The lever f19 carries a spring-pressed roller f16 engaging a two-diameter spiral rib f13, f14 on a drum which is rotated through differential gear f10. f11, f12 and wormgears f3, f5 on the one hand by movements of the shaft g1 of the receiver G, and on the other hand by movements of the shaft f8 geared to the gun barrel A. The receiver G is rotated synchronously with a transmitter H set through a differential gear h3, h4, h5 on the one hand by a ranging hand-wheel h1 and on the other hand by a handwheel h2 which is rotated, to correct for the roll of the ship, so as to keep the horizon in the view of a telescope h9. When the gun has moved to accord with the receiver G, the roller f16 is in neutral position on the transition portion f15 of the spiral rib and a switch arm f21, connected to a conductor k4, is situated between a pair of electric contacts connected to conductors k7, k8 these conductors forming part of a circuit through the solenoids b4, c4 actuating the cut-off valves. Movements of the roller in one direction or the other from its neutral position, cause the contact f21 to close electric circuits through the solenoids b4, c4 to open the valves B, C against the action of springs b2, c2. When the prescribed movement of the gun has taken place, the valve E is returned to central position, and the circuits through the solenoids are broken to enable the cut-off valves to close. When the cut-off valves are in closed position, and the switch K' is open, a piston-valve D can be operated by the handwheel d' to bring the gun to the horizontal position for loading, the gun being automatically returned to the elevation prescribed by the receiver G after the gun has been loaded and switch K1 closed.
