Coal-cutting machines.-A bar or chain coal cutter is mounted on a tram 1 through an intermediate pivoted plate A on which the machine is slidably adjustable by means of a screw B; by this means, successive cuts may be made as indicated in Fig. 6. The machine is transported under its own power by connecting the motor thereof to the tram through clutch 8, gearing 9, and a chain.
