164,817. Harris, D. J. March 9, 1920. Couplings, non- automatic.-In a D- shackle for a colliery tram, the pin is fcrmed with two keys at 180‹ apart. The upper one c at the head of the pin is pear-shaped and fits in a correspondingly-shaped hole in the arm b. The lower key h of rectangular shape, is longer than the key c, and can be inserted through a keyway k in the other arm j. The two keyways in the shackle are in alignment, and the distance between the top of key h and the underside of the pear-shaped key c is greater than the distance overall of the jaws of the D. The key h prevents the pin from being completely withdrawn from the shackle, and when locking the pin it is inserted through the keyway k and given a turn of 180‹ whereupon the upper pearshaped key c drops into place. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 18669/03.
