167,627. Nicholson, E. G. May 27, 1920. Fusible cut-outs. - For protecting electrically heated articles, fuse plugs of various forms are used which may be placed in spring clips 2 mounted on the bottom 30 of the article or screwed into a recess formed therein, Fig. 18. The clips may or may not be contact terminals. Fig. 3 shows a tube 1 of insulating-material open at both ends and enclosing a recess of fusible material 3 in which the fuse terminals 7 are imbedded. The tube may be of any shape. As shown in Fig. 10, the tube 1 has a central opening through which the fusible material 3 may now on melting. According to Fig. 13, one end of the tube is closed by an Insulating-plug 4. with or without a tongue 10, conductors 7 passing through the plug into contact with the fusible material 3 occupying the other end of the tube. Fig. 16 shows a reversible fuse with a pair of terminals 7 at each end adapted to engage alternately clip contacts 11, 12, and to project into a recess 30 in the bottom of the vessel. As shown in Fig. 20, a conical plug of insulating- material with fusible material 3 in an external recess is engaged between clip contacts 12 and a projection 14 on the bottom of the vessel.
