Manure and seed distributors.-A machine for spraying or powdering trees &c., is provided with a motor for driving both the spraying or powdering apparatus and the travelling wheels and is adapted to pass over bushes between the trees without damaging them. According to the Provisional Specification 23314/20, the machine may be fitted with apparatus for drilling. The chassis 1 is supported on two driven rear wheels 2 and two front steering wheels 3 mounted on stub or stud axles in downwardly projecting brackets 4, 5. The axles 6 of the steering wheels project from vertical spindles 7 passing through bearings in the frame 1. Above the frame, the spindles are fitted with arms 9 connected together by a rod 10, and one of the spindles with a second arm linked to a steering-wheel 13. The ignition and throttle controls for the engine 14 are mounted on a dashboard 18. The engine shaft is connected by a clutch 19 to a power shaft ending in a gear box containing change-speed, reversing, and differential gearing for driving two transverse shafts 22 connected by chain gearing with the wheels 2. Two air-pumps 32, 38 are driven from the power shaft through chain gearing and an auxiliary shaft 28. The pump 32 delivers air at a high pressure to the lower part of a cylindrical tank 34 containing the spraying liquid. The tank 34 is provided with a pressure gauge 35, a relief valve 36, and a branched delivery pipe 41 fitted with cocks and unions for flexible hose. The pump 38 delivers a large volume of air at a low pressure to the base of a pyramidal powder container 40 which is provided with a branch delivery pipe 43 having cocks and unions. Either the spraying-apparatus or the powdering-apparatus may be omitted. The machine may travel without operating the pumps, and the pumps may be operated while the machine is stationary. The machine may be used as a tractor.
