Respirators.-A respiratory mask covering the nose and mouth is formed of wire gauze a shaped so as to enclose a considerable air space. The mask is covered externally with impervious fabric b except at a part c which serves as an air inlet and is covered internally with an absorbent pad d, Fig. 2, saturated with a volatile antiseptic. The mask is fitted with an exhaling valve, f formed as shown in Fig. 3 and having a light polygonal plate h of mica which forms the actual valve member. The mask is fitted with a binding e enclosing a malleable metal wire so that it mav conform closely to the contour of the face.
