The mask, intended to provide protection up to about 13,700 m, comprises a face cover 13 equipped with inlet and exhaust valves connected by a flexible economiser sac 12 to a continuous oxygen supply. The mask accommodates a volume 17 for receiving a fraction of the respiratory mixture exhaled, intended to be mixed with the oxygen originating from the source in proportions which give rise to reflex hyperventilation by the wearer of the mask.
