Linear-dimension gauges.-The sheet is passed between a shaft and two rollers which rest on the shaft and are carried by pivoted levers connected, through the medium of mechanism embodying an elastic link, with an indicating pointer the shaft of which is fitted with a dash-pot arrangement. The rollers C resting on the shaft A are carried by levers D the ends of which engage by means of knife-edges a cross-bar E. A pivoted lever G bears on the bar E through the medium of a strut F the free end of the lever engaging a piston rod h1 having a piston H which moves in a cylinder K against the influence of a coiled spring J. The cylinder is formed with a rack K1 which transmits movement to a pointer n2 on a shaft N through the medium of toothed quadrants M, M1 and a toothed wheel n1. A piston n3 on the shaft N engages a rack on a piston-rod, the piston Q on which is provided with holes and moves in a cylinder containing oil. This provision of an elastic link in the indicating mechanism together with the dash-pot device causes the indicating needle to assume a position corresponding to the mean thickness.
