Improvements in cinematograph and like film splicers

Affixing by adhesives.-A device for forming kinematograph films comprises two clamps 21, 25 and 22, 26 pivoted on a bar 6, and a double shear blade 7 between them of the width of the joint to be made. The films are positioned in the clamps by means of pins 37, 38. One clamp is lowered with its film projecting over the blade 7 and then the other clamp is lowered so that a blade 35 or 36 secured beneath it trims the film. The second film is trimmed in similar manner by the blade on the other clamp, and the ends of the films can be overlapped on the blade 7 where, after scraping and cementing the end of one film, they are pressed together by a pivoted arm 10 provided with a resilient surface. Spring clips 34 enable the clamps to be secured to stops 19, and a pivoted hook 12 is adapted to hold down the pressure arm 10. A resilient gauge 39 on one clamp limits the width of the scraping operation and of the cement applied. An electric lamp 41 is provided.
