Cuplings, non-automatic.-In a D-shackle or coupling for colliery trams, wagons, ropes, chains, &c., the hole in the upper arm is arranged to communicate with a groove e, and the hole in the lower arm is mad'e of tapered formation: an inclined surface f is also provided on the upper arm and a pin or bolt i having a rib or projection intermediate its ands is adapted to pass through tne groove e in the shackle and to be disposed between the two arms of the shackle when the coupling is closed. An inclined surface n on the upper end of the pin i, which is offset with relation to the rib j on the pin is adapted to co-operate with the inclined projection f on the shackle the lower end k of the pin being of conical shape for co-operation with the tapered hole in the lower arm of the shackle.
