摘要
195,686. Commercial Aeroplane Wing Syndicate, Ltd., and Booth, H. Nov. 29, 1921. Floats for aerial machines.-The skins of hulls, floats &c. of aircraft are formed of a single series of strips of wood sufficiently narrow to be bent edgewise as well as facewise to enable curved frames to be curved without tapering the strips in width. The width of the strips is also not great compared with their thickness. The edges may be plain or tongued and grooved as shown in Fig. 4. To give increased stiffness to any desired part, strips of various thicknesses, as shown in Fig. 4, or strips of varying thickness from end to end may be employed, or strips of both forms may be used. To enable reliable joints to be made between strips having plain edges, or to enable tongues of substantial size to be used, the strips may be rrade thicker than otherwise required and recessed or grooved on their undersides as shown in Fig. 3 to reduce their weight.
