Feeding-appliances for animals.-Relates to apparatus of the kind wherein food is not delivered from the hopper to the trough until the animal presses against a movable part, and consists in mounting the hopper upon a pivot and providing means for pressing it against an abutment that closes the food passage when freed by the animal. The rectangular wooden or metal hopper a with removable lid m and depending pusher n has a delivery mouth d and is so mounted between similarly depending side members l that it is out of centre upon the pivots c, whereby it presses against a front stop h closing the delivery mouth, until the animal, by pressure against the pusher n, swings the hopper rearwards towards a back-stop k adapted to shake the hopper and free the food which falls into the trough b. Adjustment of the delivery mouth can be effected by a sliding plate e, clamped by a bolt p. The position of the pivots may be adjusted, to vary the force necessary to swing the hopper back, there may be a number of hoppers mounted on a single pivot-rod in a commonframe, and there may be a cross-board, on which the animal stands, fitted between extended bearers s.
