Golf-practising appliances.-A sighting device for attachment to a players' sleeve between the - shoulder and the angle of the elbow is adapted, under the influence of gravity, to come into alignment between the player's eye and the ball and so constitute an indication that the limit of the back swing has been reached. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the device comprises a hemispherical shell a having an aperture c forming a seating for a ball d which is held in place by a spring e. A stud m projecting from the ball d terminates in a ball-head n constituting a fore-sight. Pivoted on the stud m is a weighted quadrant o provided at its upper end with an arm p which carries a knob r adapted to act as a back-sight. In order that the knob r may be adjusted to vary the line of sight, the arm p is pointed at its lower end to engage any one of a series of indications t on the quadrant o. In use, the device is attached to a player's sleeve by pins g and adjusted so that the sights r, n come into alignment between the player's eye and the ball at the upward limit of the back-swing. A horizontal line may be marked on the quadrant to indicate the direction of the stroke. In a modification, Fig. 12, the knob r is replaced by. a ring v attached to a grooved stem z slidable in a slot in the ball d. The stem is held in any desired position by a spring-pressed plunger 17 engaging one of the grooves 16.
