Separators. - Mixtures of gases and vapours are passed upwards through the space between the wall of a cylindrical casing 5 and an inner cylinder 13, the vapour being condensed by water circulating in a cooling-jacket 35. The gas then passes down between the cylinder 13 and a third cylinder 15, and up and out through the cylinder 15, in which are arranged conical screens 19 to separate entrained liquid. A helical vane 18 is arranged in the condensing- chamber. The condensed and separated liquid falls to the bottom of the casing 5 and cylinder 13, and runs into a well 25 in which are tubes 28, 27 forming a liquid seal and outlet. The screens 19 are made of cloth and are supported on rings 20 threaded on rods 22, their apices being secured to another rod 21.
