Lever-actuated pumps ; air vessels; waste liquid, returning ; delivery pipes. - A knapsack sprayer comprises a receptacle, a pump cylinder, an operating-lever connected through a rod and a lever with the piston rod of the pump, a valvecontrolled overflow pipe connecting the pump cylinder and the receptacle, an air cylinder having valve connection with the pump cylinder, and a multiple-jet spraying nozzle having connection through a flexible pipe with the air cylinder, the jets of the spraying nozzle being adjustable to different angles or distances apart. The operating-lever 18 is connected by a rod 16 with a lever 10 pivotally connected to the piston-rod 8 and to a link 12 jointed to a bracket 14 on the pump cylinder 7. The overflow pipe from the cylinder 7 extends to the top part of the tank 5 and is provided with a one-way valve 36. The spraying liquid enters the pump through a spring-controlled valve 24 and is forced through a pipe 25 and spring-controlled valve 27 into the air cylinder 26 from which it passes through a flexible pipe 28 to the nozzle body 31. Two or more outlet pipes or nozzles 29 are rotatably mounted in the body 31, the discharge being controlled by a tap 32. According to the Provisional Specification, air for expelling the liquid is compressed in the pump cylinder.
