Winch-actuated hoists with guided carriers.- In means for loading railway trucks of the kind in which the load is placed on a carriage suspended from a trolly which is hauled up an inclined track by a winch and descends by gravity and the track is supported on standards so as to overhang the truck, the inclined bar 4 to which the track 9 is attached is supported by standards 6, 6a and by a strut 18 engaging the upper edge of a side of the truck. The bar 4 is attached to the standards by cross-bars 7, 7a permanently attached to the bar, and the standards are connected by tie-rods 20. A slidable hook 8 on the standard 6 engages the upper edge of the truck side. Additional struts 19 attached to the top of the standards 6 may rest on the truck.
