Colouring; ornamental photographs.-A transparent support is coated with a varnish such as collodion, and on this is superposed a photographic chromated gelatin-image which is produced without using pigment or colouring matters, or using only a very slight amount of colouring matter such as a soluble aniline dye to give a general slight tint. The image is then coloured by the application of oil or water colours. The image may be produced by coating the varnished support and printing direct, or a transfer image may be applied to the varnished support. A supporting surface such as a sheet of canvas may then be applied and the picture stripped from the transparent support. Specification 14120/86 is referred to.
