Embossing. - A vulcanizing-press for use in making rubber printing - plates is provided with adjustable means for stopping the movable part in a position parallel to the surface of the fixed part. As shown in Fig. 1, the press comprises a lower part 4 and an upper part 5 movable by means of a screw 6, the two parts being adapted to be heated to the vulcanizing temperature. Near the sides of the part 4, grooves of increasing depth are cut to receive wedge-shaped bars 7, each provided on the lower surface with a rack engaging a pinion on a hand-operated shaft. To enable the press to be used for making matrices, bars 12, Fig. 3, of a breadth equal to the difference in thickness between the original 13 and the finished printing-plate, are placed on the bars 7.
