228,307. Avery, Ltd., W. & T., and Sykes, C. M. Dec. 8, 1923. Steelyard apparatus. - In a weight-indicating device of the kind wherein the major order of weighment is obtained by traversing a poise weight along a steelyard and the minor order of weighment is obtained by an automatic resistant (such as a pendulum) connected to an indicating pointer, the major weight numerals are displayed in juxta-position to the minor indications, and are situated upon an indicator which has its point of indication, or its point of connection to the poise weight, located in the vertical plane containing the line of the fulcrum knife-edge of the steelyard. As shown in Fig. 1, the poise weight a carries an indicating bar b the numerals on which are displayed singly at an aperture d as the poise is moved along the steelyard c. The aperture d is situated vertically below or in line with the fulcrum knife-edge c1 of the steelyard. A scale of minor order weight indications is arranged adjacent the aperture d and the minor order of weight is indicated by an automaticallyoperated pointer f. In a modification, Fig. 2, a rack g is pivoted to the poise weight, and meshes with a pinion j at the fulcrum line of the steelyard. The spindle k of the pinion is' carried by the scale housing and bears an indicating disc o arranged to display its numerals through an aperture d. The minor order chart of indications (not shown) is arranged adjacent the aperture d in a manner similar to that shown in Fig. 1.
