A one-piece rail anchor adapted to prevent creepage of doubleheaded and like rails, and to lock the chair wedges

Creeping of rails, preventing. - A onepiece anchor for double - headed rails grips the inverted head so that there are three grips on the rail and @@ch gripping- means is carried on a spring arm. The anchor is recessed at 3 to grip the edge of the inverted head 4 and passes under and across the rail in a slightly rearward direction and is then turned forwardly and extended upwardly to form a T- shaped portion 5. The rear arm 7 of the T- head forms a grip bearing on the bevel of the inverted head. The forward arm is extended downwardly and outwardly to form a grip on the edge and bevel of the inverted rail and also an abutment 6 for the wedge of the rail chair. According to a modification the anchor on the side of the single grip is rearwardly and outwardly extended so that it may be placed in reversed position on a rail so as to clear the wedge. According to a further modification the rear arm may be extended and turned outwardly to form an abutment which will bear on the chair wedge if the anchor is placed on the rail in a reversed position.
