Rotary-tool implements; motors, arrangement and control of. - In apparatus for hoeing, &c. the actual working implement is hand supported and controlled but is driven from a. separate internal-combustion power unit carried on the back of the operator. In the hoeing-apparatus shown the enclosed fuel tank a, oil container, carburetter, and engine b are mounted on a framework c adapted to be carried on the back. The driving-shaft d is enclosed in a casing passing under an arm of the operator and conforming to the shape of his body. The rotary hoe i consists of a pronged shaft mounted on disc wheels, and is driven by enclosed bevel gearing g, h and a shaft passing through the tubular handle e and connected to a flexible shaft f. The motor is controlled by a Bowden wire connected to the hand grip k.
