Brushing in manufacture. - Relates to brushing machines of the kind in which a rotating cylindrical brush co-operates with a work support over which a hat body is placed from the side and which presses the hat body towards the brush, and consists in a work support having two raised parts and a concave part between them so that brushing is simultaneous over a considerable area of the hat body. A work support 4 on a counterweighted treadle-controlled lever 5 has rollers 9, 10 at its end and a concave part between them. On depression of the treadle 7, the hat body is threaded over the support, and is then fed forward by the brush 2, being retarded by hand as necessary. In a modification, the rollers 9, 10 are substituted by rounded projecting portions of the work support.
