Improvements relating to the treatment of cotton, silk or artificial silk or goods made therefrom

Yarns, threads, &c., treating with liquids.- Cotton, silk, or artificial silk, or goods made therefrom are treated in the presence of a filler, such as china clay or gum, with synthetic resins diluted with water, the condensation being completed in the presence of a condensation agent of an acid nature. The synethetic resin may be made from thiourea and formaldehyde and the condensing agent is preferably an organic acid such as oxalic acid or a salt thereof. The aqueous solution preferably does not contain more than 8 per cent of synthetic resin. The condensation may be completed by passing the material or goods under treatment through hot rolls.
