Cattle trucks; doors, wagon; communication platforms.- In a cattle truck in which an upper floor f1, Fig. 2, can be raised under the roof of the vehicle by means of cables l passing over pulleys m operated by worms 1, Fig. 3, and worm wheels z and in which the floor can be lowered on to supports g when desired to carry sheep &c., safety devices 8 are provided which are adapted to be moved automatically into and out of the underside of the floor f1 upon elevating and lowering the floor respectively. The floor f1 is supported on bars j1 carrying wheels u running in guides v. Each end of a bar j1 is attached by a cable l to one groove of a pulley m, another groove of the pulley m being provided with a cable o to which a balance weight p is attached, the weight and bar j1 being also connected by a cable r running over the pulleys s. The worms 1 are telescopically-connected by a tube 3 and are operated by a hand wheel e. The pulley m is provided with a cam groove m1 into which fits a pin 9 of the hook-shaped member 8 pivoted at 7 to the pulley casing. When the floor f1 is raised the hook 8 is moved under the floor and on lowering, the hook moves from under the floor as shown in dotted line. The ends of the wagon are provided with double doors adapted to swing about a vertical axis, each door being in halves hingedly connected so that the doors may be opened when two vehicles are coupled together. A flap 13 opposite each door is hinged at 12 to the floor f1 and can be raised and connected by a hook 14 to block the door when open or it may be lowered flat on to the floor, or turned over as shown in dotted line to form a gangway between the upper floors of two vehicles. A further flap 15 is provided at the bottom of the door which also forms a gangway for the lower floors of two vehicles.
