摘要
272,781. Allison, T. L., and Brown. B. Dec. 16. 1926. Electric insulation.-Absorbent materials such as wood, concrete, and paper are partially or completely impregnated with sulphur to render them more highly electrically insulating. The material, preferably after drying, is immersed in molten sulphur, preferably at a temperature of about 150‹ C. The impregnation may be carried out under pressure or in a vacuum, and may be stopped when the sulphur has penetrated only the surface layers, or allowed to continue until the material is completely impregnated. Bent or pressed articles may be impregnated before or after bending or pressing to render the shape permanent. The treatment may be applied to telegraph poles and to battery boxes.
