Centrifugal governors.-In a governor for Diesel marine engines which adjusts the fuel pump t by both manual control by a handle q and by automatic control by the pivoted weights e the control spring g can be compressed by pushing the lever handle m down into the notch l11 for operation: of the engine at the higher and middle speeds, or the spring g is less compressed when the lever handle m is raised into the notch l1 for the lowest speed region. In action the bell cranked governor weights tend to raise the sleeve f which acting through a, lever system n alters the eccentric o while the hand adjustment q alters the eccentric P and the combined action adjusts the fuel pump t. A tension spring u adjusted by a hand wheel w opposes the spring g and relieves the governor of the weight of the sleeve &c. The spring g is retained between upper and lower ball bearing cups.
