B r e a t h, condensing moisture from.-A device for condensing from the exhaled breath moisture to be used in emergency as drinking water comprises a flat circular cup 20 having an inlet tube 27 apertured at 55 for the breath and provided internally with baffles 50, 51 attached respectively to opposite walls of the cup, the sinuous path for the gases thus provided causing condensation of moisture therefrom. Saliva passes down a central tube 54 and may be drained off through a valve 82. The breath passes out through a valve 56 having very small holes 57 to prevent the ingress, e.g. of sea water into the apparatus. The outlet pipe may be closed if desired by a screw operated valve. The baffles 50, 51 may be replaced by a single set of baffles connected only to the central tube 54 (Fig. 1 not shown). In this case a pipe communicating with the condensing chamber and projecting upwardly into the pipe 27, acts as a saliva trap. Other arrangements comprise a single longitudinal baffle (Fig. 12, not shown), and a number of circular corrugated baffles providing a vertically sinuous path (Fig. 4, not shown). The condensed moisture may be collected in the cup 20 only or an additional cup 80 may be provided. Drain cocks such as 81 are provided on the condensing cups. The valve 56 may be replaced by a valve comprising a sleeve surrounding the tube 27 and having external longitudinal flutings providing, with an enclosing tube, long narrow discharge passages. In use the cup 20 is enclosed in a canvas bag strapped to the body and the tube 27 communicates with a mouthpiece fitting over the mouth and secured by a strap passing round the face and head.
