Feeding openers &c.-In an arrangement in which cotton is fed from the bale breakers to the mixing bins by pneumatic or lattice systems, the cotton as it leaves the systems to drop into the bin is acted upon by a distributor, external to and independent of the system, which spreads it in an open state and allows it to settle over the whole floor of the bin. The distributor may take the form of a cone 6, Fig. 1, with ribs 8 mounted on a vertical shaft 7 supported in a bracket 9 carried by the conveyer. The shaft 7 is driven by bevel gears 11, 12 operated from the pulley 16 on the shaft of the stripper 17 so that the distributer ceases operation at the same time as the mixing-box 4. The distributor may comprise a series of spiked rollers rotating to throw the cotton which falls on them outwardly. The cotton may fall on to a cone 23, Fig. 3. and be blown therefrom by air issuing from hooded openings 24. The air is suplied to the cone through a central pipe 22.
