Cylinders, cooling.-In apparatus for keeping hot the circulating water when an engine is not in use, in which detachable flexible pipes 11, 14 connect by pipes 20, 15, the top and bottom of the radiator to a source of heat, e.g. the radiator 10 of a central heating system of a house, or a heating stove of a garage, provision is made for preventing an air lock in the pipe 11. This may comprise a relief cock 22, or a small bore pipe 28, Fig. 3, which just reaches the water in the radiator, air being expressed by pouring water into a stand pipe 23 having a cock 25; alternatively the pipe 20 may have a hook by which its end may be held above the water-level in the radiator until the air is ejected. If the radiator 10 forms part of a pressure hot-water system the pipe 20 must have an air-tight cap to replace the radiator cap and the overflow pipe 30 must be closed by a cock.
