Devulcanizing.-Beads of tyre covers and the like are treated to separate the core from the surrounding canvas, by impregnating them with the oil obtained by distilling waste rubber, treating the impregnated beads with hydrochloric or other acids to polymerize the oil and swell the mass, washing with water, and slitting the beads and removing the hard core. The core and canvas may then be heated separately to regenerate the rubber contained therein. Specification 269,127 is referred to.
