Improvements in incandescent electric lamps having means for giving different degrees of luminous intensity

Multiple-filament lamps.-In bulbs having a number of independent filaments which are adapted to be used separately or simultaneously, the filaments are selected for use by means of a turn-button mounted on the bulb. In the construction shown, the leading-in wires. 4 of the filaments A, B, C are brought out to contacts 5 arranged in a glass plate 3 in a fixed part 2 of the bulb cap. The usual exterior contacts 11 are carried by a slidable part 7 of the cap which is movable along the part 2 by means of a rack and pinion 10, 8 or other means operable by a wheel 9 mounted on the cap. Wires 6 extending from the contacts 11 are bent as shown and spring contact fingers 14 are secured to them in the angularly disposed straight section 12, 13 so as to be engageable with the contacts 5 separately or together according to the adjustment of the part 7 of the cap. A modification is described, (Fig. 8, not shown) wherein the cap is entirely fixed and the rack and pinion operate an internal slide carrying the above-described switch mechanism.
