Electrical systems, automatic; track apparatus actuating signals on trains and for stopping trains; track apparatus actuating signals other than on trains.-Energy from a train-carried generator S is supplied over a pole-changing switch 7 and a brush to a sectional conductor 1 on the left side of the locomotive in the direction of motion. The conductor 1 is connected by a. cross conductor 3 to a conductor 2 on the right side of the track which engages a brush on a following locomotive to energize lamps 11, 11', a bell 19 and a valveoperating magnet 20 which supplies compressed air to a cylinder operating the throttle and brake valves. At curves or other places requiring lowspeed running, an auxiliary conductor 4, placed on the right side of the track and parallel to the conductor 1, is connected to it and engages an extra brush on the locomotive to energize slowspeed signal lamps 12, 12'. Change-over switches 10, 101 are fitted to provide for reverse running of the locomotive. At points, the auxiliary conductors along the branch roads are connected and disconnected by the movements of the points.
