Sealing - devices for stoppers; cap - stoppers, bayonet-joint; making stoppers.-Secured to the flange of a screw, bayonet-joint, &c. cap a is a separate resilient tongue member d which projects through an opening b in the flange to engage a stop j provided on the neck of a bottle, jar, &c., or on a sleeve secured on the neck, any rotation of the cap towards removal causing the tongue to be broken off or destroyed. The cap, with the tongue d secured to it by punching the metal of the cap through an aperture e in the tongue, is placed over the neck of the bottle with the end of the tongue engaging the stop j and projections l are then pressed into the flange beneath a shoulder h to secure the cap detachably to the neck whilst pressure is applied to the top of the cap. Alternatively, a cap with preformed projections may be used. Instead of moulding bayonet-joint &c. projections on the neck, the neck may be surrounded by a sleeve secured against rotation and provided with a stop and threads or bayonet slots in its surface, the cap being applied to the sleeve before the sleeve is applied to the bottle, and the lower edge of the sleeve, being turned beneath the lip of the bottle after the associated cap and sleeve has been slipped on the bottle neck.
