Pile fabrics.-A wood gauging and cutting device for use in providing lengths of wool for use in making hand-made rugs comprises a grooved wooden gauge beam 6 having a groove 7 overlapped by metal cover plates 12 and a slidable cutter 9 with one or two inclined cutting edges 10 and a rib 11 fitting in the groove. The upper part 15 of the cutter is tubular and the cutter is caused to slide in the groove to cut the wool by means of one or more buttons 16. Pins 14 prevent the cutter from slipping out of the groove.
