Operating vehicle doors by lever, link, and like mechanism and by tilting of vehicle. - In a tip-wagon the discharge doors for the contents are formed by the inclined portions 12, Fig. 8, of the wagon sides 11, and are arranged to open automatically after the body has performed, say, two-thirds of its tipping movement, and in the final position form discharge shoots or extensions of the wagon floor 10. Each door 12 has associated therewith a bell-crank lever 32 pivoted near its centre to a door bracket 33, and at its inner end to a pair of pivoted links 35, 36. During the first part of the tipping- movement the link 35 is moved upwards freely, then it contacts with a stop 37, so that during the final part of the tipping-movement the door is swung open. In its closed position the door is locked bv a pivoted quadrant 39 engaging with a stop 41 on the wagon side, the quadrant being released against the action of a spring 44 immediately before the door-opening movement commences by a releasing-link 42 attached at its lower end to a chain 43 connected to the bell-crank lever 32.
