337,877. Dengler, A. Nov. 3, 1928, [Convention date]. Transfers; transferring designs.-Pictures fast to light and washing are applied to fabrics by means of a transfer comprising a paper backing to which is applied a paste containing the colours and mordants which only commence to interact under the influence of heat and moisture applied in transferring. The paste includes mordanting- substances such as acid sodium sulphate, milk of lime, or the like, oxidizing-agents such as potassium percarbonate, and thickening-agents such as soap, particularly resin soap, glue, size, or the like. The paste is preferably sprayed on to the paper with warm air, the temperature being insufficiently high to cause the ingredients to interact. In transferring, the fabric may be moistened, or a sheet of moistened paper placed between the fabric and the iron. In an alternative arrangement, the paper may be saturated with some of the chemicals. According to an example, potassium percarbonate is added to a cooled solution of gelatine, and this solution is added to a solution in water of commercial sodium phosphate containing indigo. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect 91 (3) (a) refers also to the use of a material known as " kolloresin " as a thickening- agent. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
