353,879. Coke ovens. WELLMAN SMITH OWEN ENGINEERING CORPORATION, Ltd., Victoria Station House, Victoria Street, London, and STOCKDALE, S., St. Anne's, Cedar Grove, Beckminster, Wolverhampton. April 28, 1930, No. 13015. [Classes 51 (ii) and 55 (i).] Discharging; doors.-In a coke pusher, coal leveller and door extractor for use in connection with coke ovens, the coke pusher 13, 14 and coal leveller are mounted side by side on a truck 11 and the door extractor is mounted in the same vertical plane as the coke pusher and is carried on a frame pivotally mounted to enable it to be moved radially into and out of its operative position, the several movements of the door extractor being effected consecutively by one and the same motor. The truck 11 carries a superstructure 12 on which a frame 15 is pivotally mounted at 16 in a vertical plane passing through the longitudinal centre of the coke pusher 13, 14. A trolley 17 mounted on rails 26 on the frame 15 carries a mast 18 with door-lifting gear 19. The door extractor is operated by a motor 21 through an arcuate rack 23 loosely mounted on the spindle 16, one end of the rack being connected to the trolley 17 by a rod 24. When the rack is rotated in one direction the trolley is drawn back in contact with guide rails 25, 27 until it contacts with stops 20. The rack 23 then becomes, in effect, integral with the frame 15 and on its further rotation swings the frame about the pivot 16, a roller 24a on the trolley then co. operating with an arcuate portion of the guide rail 25. On reversing the motor the movements of the frame and trolley are reversed. The position of the coal leveller is indicated by the line A-B, Fig. 2. Specification 333,294, [Class 51 (ii), Furnaces and kilns for applying &c.], is referred to.
