[Class 5 (i).] A swivel bolt for use in attaching chains to steel spring animal traps, is formed from an elongated I-shaped blank of strip metal bent round to the shape shown in Fig. 3, the head being inserted through a roughly rectangular hole provided in the base of a swivel loop, the hole then being contracted by compressing the sides of the loop to prevent withdrawal of the bolt. The bolt a engages the end link of the chain and the attachment is fixed to the trap by means of a connecting bar c passing through holes in the sides of the swivel loop, the ends of the said bar being riveted, flattened, bulged, or the like to prevent withdrawal, the bar c also passing through the trap spring h or base member g. The spring h may be provided with prominences e to prevent slipping of the attachment. According to the Provisional Specification, the swivel bolt may be formed as an open hook provided with a rivet head for insertion through the hole in the swivel loop, the hook being eventually closed over a link of the chain.
