[Class 51 (i).] Steam-jet air-inducing blowers b, bl are arranged at the front and rear of a furnace ashpit, the steam supply to the blowers being separately controlled. The air supply to the rear blowers b1 passes through a conduit a at the bottom of the ashpit formed by a removable plate p into a chamber a1 at the base of the firebridge and is delivered through the blowers and directed towards the rear of the grate. For water-tube boilers the conduit a mav be formed by a pipe or cast-iron trough at the base of the ashpit.
