379,728. Moulding confectionery. WERNER & SONS, Inc., J., 713, Lake Avenue, Rochester, New York, U.S.A. June 1, 1931, No. 15942. Convention date, May 31, 1930. [Class 87 (ii).] In a candy-moulding machine of the kind in which an endless conveyer for moulding material is caused to travel to a printing position, to a candy depositing position, and then through a drying and conditioning chamber to a discharging station, the endless conveyer comprises a belt having a continuous supporting surface upon which the moulding material is fed. As shown, a belt 2 carried by pulleys 3, 4 passes in succession beneath the spout 19 of a starch buck 1 which deposits starch on the belt, a printing device 23, and a candy depositor 34 to a conditioning housing 35 through which is circulated air at a desired temperature and humidity. When the belt passes over the pulley 4, the candy and starch fall upon an endless conveyer 36 from which they are conveyed by a transverse conveyer 40 and inclined conveyer 41 to the starch buck 1, which separates the starch from the candy and redelivers it to the belt 2. The conveyers 36, 40, 41 are enclosed by the conditioning housing 35. The printing device 23 comprises a flat plate provided on its under surface with a plurality of mould-forming projections and with a marginal flange projecting beyond the projections to prevent the starch from spreading during moulding. The printing device 23 is supported by guide rods 24 provided at their lower ends with yokes 26 carrying rollers 26a which engage in grooves in cams 27 secured on a shaft 28. The shaft 28 is driven from the driving-shaft 18 through gearing 31 and a belt 29. The belt 2 is advanced step-by step-by-the engagement of a pawl 8 with a toothed wheel 7 secured on the shaft of the pulley 4, the pawl being carried by a swinging-lever 9 operated from the shaft 18 through gearing, a shaft 14, bevel gearing 13, an eccentric 11, and a pitman 10.
