Magnetic instruments. - An electromagnetic vibratory mechanism has a vibratory member cooperating with one or more magnet poles, the vibratory member being secured at one end to an elastic member, part of which is fixed with respect to the magnet and which can be distorted to provide independent adjustment. of position and angle of the vibratory member relative to the pole pieces. A permanent magnet 1, has pole pieces 2 screwed thereon surrounded by the speech coils 3. The reed 4 is mounted on a cross-bar 5 which is fixed to the magnet by bolts 8 passing through a cross-bar 6 on the lower side of the magnet 1. To these cross-bars are attached plates 11, 12 of which the plate 12 is provided with screws 13, 14 bearing on the plate 11 which permit the adjustment of the inclination of the reed and its separation from the pole pieces by elastically straining the cross-bar 5 at its narrowed portions 9. By moving the cross-bars 5, 6 along the magnet, the distance between the fixed end of the reed and the poles may be varied. The Provisional Specification refers to Specification 293,131.
