[Class 59.] Means for discharging materials of a cohesive nature from hoppers or like wedge-shaped containers comprises a rotary member depenfling into the hopper and disposed vertically above the outlet thereof, free space being provided between the said member and the walls of the hopper. As shown in Fig. 1, the rotary member comprises a tapered helical worm b on a shaft a which is driven through a friction clutch and worm gearing d, f by a shaft e. In a modification, Fig. 2, the rotary member comprises a frame p consisting of blades q supported from the shaft a by arms r, whilst a further modification comprises both the worm and the frame, the worm being the lower member.
