398,172. Compound glass. TRIPLEX SAFETY GLASS CO., Ltd., 1, Albemarle Street, Piccadilly, London, and WILSON, J., Triplex Works, Eccleshall Road, King's Norton, Birmingham. March 5, 1932, No. 6692. Addition to 332,551, [Class 20 (iii), Doors &c.]. [Class 140.] Cellulose ester plastics, for example celluloid or cellulose acetate, are united to sheets of glass coated with gelatine, with or without an enamel or cement, by bringing the sheets together while immersed in or flooded by an inert liquid comprising homologues of cyclohexanol, for example methyl or dimethyl cyclohexanols or derivatives thereof, for example methyl or dimethyl cyclohexanol oxalates, and then subjecting to heat and pressure. The inert liquid may be used hot and may comprise also cyclohexanol, glycerine, water, dimethyl, dibutyl or diamyl phthalates ethylene, glycol ether, diethylene glycol ether, cyclohexanone or its homologues, tri-aryl phosphates, paratolyl sulphonamide, benzyl alcohol, triacetin, toluol, xylol, amyl alcohol, secondary hexyl alcohol and mineral oil. In making compound glass the gelatine coating is dried until its water content is approximately 11 per cent. The enamel may be that described in the parent Specification or may comprise a 3 per cent solution of celluloid in a mixture of ethyl acetate, amyl acetate, amyl alcohol, diethylene glycol ether and glycerine diethyl ether. Specifications 326,229 and 328,919, [both in Class 20 (iii), Doore &c.], are referred to.
