[Class 18.] A holder for a stick of soap, cosmetic, &c. which can slide therein is provided with a substantially smooth inside wall, and the stick is adapted to be attached to a substantially flat, one-piece base 3 formed with integral means to engage or bite into the wall of the holder and prevent the stick being moved backwards. The stick serves to maintain the base normal to the wall of the holder. The base is of metal, &c. and cup-shaped, Fig. 1, with the means to engage the wall of the holder comprising stamped-out tongues 3a ; or the base may comprise a disc, Fig. 5, to which the stick is melted, or secured by adhesive, or by upstanding tongues pressed, &c. out of the disc, and with the tongues 3a cut in the opposite direction ; or the base may comprise a split ring, Fig. 7, with angled sides, a sharp lower edge 6b, and an extension 7 bent to cruciform shape for pushing the stick upwards.
