摘要
403,243. Caissons (foundations). KOHLER, W. C., 81, Johannes Verhulststraat, Amsterdam. Feb. 13, 1933, No. 4428. Convention date, Feb. 12, 1932. [Class 68 (ii).] A caisson for the construction of quays, piers, moles, breakwaters, and the like consists of a hollow structure of an inverted T-section, the breadth of the foot being twice, and preferably thrice, the thickness of the vertical part of the T. The structure is floated into position, and filled with concrete and sunk there. Fig. 3 shows a caisson consisting of a base 1 with ribs 2 and transverse partitions 3 of reinforced concrete, the partitions 3 being connected by bars 4, 6 and removable iron plates 7, 8 bent to catenary curves. In building a mole or breakwater, the profile may be made up of curved or oblique lines.
