PICT:0418349/III/1 PICT:0418349/III/2 PICT:0418349/III/3 PICT:0418349/III/4 A high and dense suspension of granular materials, e.g. crystals is maintained in a flowing liquid by injecting a fluid into the suspension enclosed in a confined chamber having a substantially imperforate floor with sufficiently high velocity to maintain an overturning movement of the whole of the granules in a direction which follows the bottom of the chamber in a direction away from the point of entrance of the current of injected fluid which is injected immediately above the floor of the container with a cross sectional area not exceeding one third of the horizontal area of the chamber. Crystals in a vessel 2 are maintained in suspension by circulation of the liquid downwardly through a tube 4 by a propeller 3. In Fig. 2 the fluid impinges on a disc 6 provided with a central aperture 7 while in Fig. 4 the fluid is forced upwardly through a pipe 9 against a hood 11. Alternatively the fluid may be injected through one side of the container as shown in Fig. 5. Specification 219,301, [Class 32], is referred to.
